CHOOSE YOUR OWN PATH

(This is a reflection from the speech of Mikaela Fudolig entitled, "Take Not the Road Less Travelled")
In every waking, there is a choice we have to make. Our choices reflect our values in life. If we value family over friends, then we devote so much time with our family than hang out with friends. If we value money over relationship, then we toil hard to earn more to quench our desire than calling a friend and ask if he is fine. If we value work over pleasure, then we extend time to accomplish what is important and urgent than stay out late at night somewhere for personal satisfaction. And if we value the easy way than the hard way to achieve our dreams, then we take shortcuts and u-turns in life than exploring what is beyond the tunnel that gives us light. Sometimes, we let our lives be corrupted with the things in this world that we tend not to listen on the warnings inside. We easily captivated with the offers of this world that we lay away on the direction that we are heading. Often than not, one may say that life is unfair. It is because one thing is true, our choices determine our future. We are responsible of our own choices and thus later on suffer the consequences. Many would want a better life outside of the country for a greener pasture but deprive themselves from the presence of their family and friends here. Others work abroad because they want to have a greater salary that will support their family but feel nostalgic of their own country. Others spend sleepless nights in call centers because of high compensation but later on suffer physical and mental disturbances. Others work for free but others work for salary because everyone has the freedom to choose their own living. But, as Mikaela Fudolig said in her Valedictory Speech take not the easy road which we think chances of success are within reach but trample a new path that leads us to lifetime happiness and fulfillment.
